1st days at home

We have been home with Georgia for 2 days now and things seem to be going ok. She has been borderline with jaundice, so we have had her by the window for most of the 2 days. She is having a lot of trouble feeding(wonder where she gets that from) which is also not letting her gain weight. The doctors say once she gains more weight she will eat better, but is it a bad cycle. Today she has been more alert which is so fun. She is a very chill baby, but wants to be held a lot (I'm not complaining). We need to just get her to eat better so she will gain some weight and we wont have to worry about jaundice anymore. Here are some more pictures of her. Hope you think she is as beautiful as we do.

Thanks Mimi

My dad made this cradle for us.
She did not spend more that 5 minutes in here before she wanted to be held.

Welcome Georgia!!!

Georgia Grace arrived on January 25, 2011 at 1:25 pm. She was 6 lbs 1 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. She is a tiny little girl. She has blue eyes and a lot of dark hair right now. She has a very sweet personality so far. We are loving every minute of parenthood. We can only upload pictures from our phone right now, so more pictures to come when we get home.
Georgia's birthing process started on 1/24 at 6:20 pm. They started me on medication to start the process and the contractions started right away. I did not increase my dilation until 7:00 am when they started the pitocin. Once that started, the contractions increased dramatically. My doctor really wanted to break my water. I put her off for about 2 hours. Once she broke it, the contractions got significantly worse, and I decided to ask for the epidural. BEST DECISION! I originally did not want to get one, but I decided that it was better for me to enjoy the birthing process than to try to tough it out. From that point on, the deliver went easy. I went from 5 centimeters to 10 in an hour and a half. It didn't take many pushes to get her out and the last final push she came out all at once. The doctor had to catch her because she came so fast and with such force.  She said it was not what she was used to. Good for me, bad for Georgia. She ended up swallowing extra fluid because of it, but she is doing fine now.

Minutes after birth!!

Will try to post more pictures soon.

41 weeks

So we went to the doctor today and I haven't made any progress. This little miss is being very stubborn. The doctor wants us to check into the hospital tonight to start the process. We won't actually start the pitocin until tomorrow morning. I doubt I will sleep at all tonight. Right now I am so excited and keep dancing around saying "We're going to have a baby!!" I can't believe it is actually here. I feel like I have been waiting my whole life for this moment, and it is about to happen. My emotions are running wild and I am crying right now just thinking how much I already love this little girl and can't wait to hold her. Hopefully everything will go well and we will be home with her in a few days. I will post pictures as soon as I can, but be patient with us, our new camera does not sync up with our laptops.

Due Date

So today is my due date and I still don't have a baby. I went to the doctor this afternoon and I am 1 centimeter dilated. The past two days I have been feeling little contractions. Hopefully, they will continue and I will have a baby in the next day or two. If not, She will induce me next Tuesday.
Robert and I are getting so restless and really want to meet her. I tried to explain that I don't like being late, I am usually early to things. Hopefully she will decide to come meet us soon.

Georgia's Room

Sorry it has taken me so long to get pictures up of Georgia's room. We finally just finished putting things on the wall. It has been a hard process deciding how to arrange the room. If you can't tell, the wall color is light pink (duh). When we moved into the house, this room was bright purple with Tinker Bell boarders. We are very happy with the way it turned out, and now just need a baby to put in it.

This is the view when you walk in the door.

This is the view from the window.

This is the view from the crib.

This is the bow holder that I made. I anticipate needing to make many more of these.

This is my Grandmother's dress from when she was a little girl. I had 3 of her dresses hanging in my room as a child. Now my baby gets the same. My mom had this made for me. The funny thing is that she was planning on doing it, and then I said I wanted to make a shadow box with her dress and other items in it. I guess great minds think alike.

This is her crib and bedding. It has four different patterns: solid pink, pink and white stripe, pink and white polka-dot, and a floral.

This is a picture a friend from church painted for me. She didn't know I was going to have another dress in the room, how perfect.

This is the shadow box I made. The top pair were my grandmother's shoes, the middle my mom's, and the bottom were mine. It looks really cute in person.

This is a really cute night light that I found.

39 weeks

So I had my 39 week appointment this week and there is no change. Georgia is still not wanting to come out yet. I have until Tuesday, and if she hasn't come yet, we will have to schedule an induction. I really don't want to be induced, but I do want my baby. There is supposed to be a full moon next week, maybe she will come then. Robert and I are getting restless...we can't wait to meet her and hold her in our arms.
We have tried all of the home remedies to induce labor, but they have not worked yet. Hopefully she will just decide that she is ready to make an entrance into this world.
By the way, I finally got the videos on the previous blog to work. You can see Georgia moving.

Blizzard in Huntsville!!!

All week long the news stations were reporting that we were going to get a lot of snow, 4-8 inches. Having grown up in the south where they predict snow and then it doesn't come, I was sceptical. Robert was sooo excited, even over estimating what we were going to get. He would get mad at me when I would tell him to only expect 4 inches. Well Robert was right, we woke up to 9 inches of snow in Madison. It was soooo pretty. Everything was covered and the atmosphere was soooo peaceful. Robert was not able to go to work today so we stayed home together and played in the snow all day!!
Robert did not want to go to sleep last night because he wanted to stay up and watch it snow. Robert was still up at 2:00 am with excitement about watching the snow. I can only imagine what my kids are going to be like about snow.
Multiple people called me today to tell me to take it easy so I wouldn't go into labor, well that didn't happen. 2 walks around the block and helping build a gaint snowman!

This is our back patio, just covered in snow.

Zoey and me in front of the park in our neighborhood.

The Snowman we built. Robert is standing behind it, that is how big it is.

39 weeks pregnant and able to build a snowman bigger than me!!!!

Georgia moving

I have been trying to get a video of Georgia moving for weeks now. She will be moving so much and then when I turn on the video camera, she stops. This is not my child. I have never been camera shy. She must have some of Robert in her. Well I finally got a few clips of her moving. Hope you enjoy!

38 weeks

I went for my 38 week appt this week. The doctor thinks that Georgia has dropped, but I don't look like it. I am not dilated at all or showing any signs of her coming yet :(
This week I have have been feeling more back aches and tightness on my stomach. I am pretty sure they are braxton hicks, but can't be sure.
Robert and I really want Georgia to be born on 1/11/11, but we are expecting a lot of snow and ice this weekend, which would be when we would have to go to the hospital for her. I guess we will just have to continue waiting until she wants to make her appearance.
